Will Emirates's new route to Stansted be successful?

Writer's picture: Harrison ShepherdHarrison Shepherd
Emirates, the largest airline in the UAE, has announced a new daily service from Dubai DXB to London STN, starting on the 8th June 2018.

The new service will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, sporting Emirates's brand new three class configuration. The new layout offers 6 fully-enclosed private suites in first class, 42 business class seats and 306 in economy. The business and economy class cabins have also been updated.

EK33 will depart DXB at 09:30AM and arrive into STN at 14:10PM. The return flight, EK34, will depart STN at 21:10PM and arrive back at DXB at 07:05AM the following day.

However, with up to 128 weekly flights (thats 18+ flights a day) from London to Dubai already, and with roughly 80 of them being operated by the huge Airbus A380, you wouldn't be alone in thinking that Stansted, being the newcomer to the London-Dubai service, may not have the demand to fill a daily Boeing 777-300 flight. Emirates, at least, seem to think so.

The new service will for sure attract people in the local area around Stansted, as Dubai is proven to be a very popular holiday destination and Emirates is a reputable carrier.
